The first Holman to achieve bowling prominence wasn’t Marshall, but rather Arble Holman of Columbus, Ohio. In the 1946 city tournament, Arble found himself scheduled with two different teams on the same squad. So he decided to bowl with both simultaneously, lugging his ball back and forth from one lane to the other. Just to prove his impartiality, he totaled 531 with each team.
